Game Preview:

The Penguins have won two of the previous three games in this year’s season series with the Wolf Pack, but in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s only earlier visit to Hartford, December 15, the Wolf Pack were victorious by a score of 7-3.

The Penguins (24-11-2-1, 51 pts., .671) were on an eight-game winning streak that ended on Friday night with a 1-0 loss to the Providence Bruins. The team sits in first place in the Atlantic Division, ahead of the second place Lehigh Valley Phantoms and third place Providence Bruins.

Last Time Out:

On Friday night, the Wolf Pack played to a 3-2 overtime win against the Utica Comets at the XL Center. Ryan Sproul scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season, while Filip Chytil netted the overtime winner for his seventh goal.

Thus far, the Pack are 16-20-3-3 on the season with a .452 win percentage, which places them eighth in the ultra-competitive Atlantic Division with 38 points from 42 games played.

Players to Watch:

#17 Scott Kosmachuk

Scott Kosmachuk has provided the Wolf Pack nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 41 games. Kosmachuk is second on the team in points for active players and is tied for first in goals. The right wing is playing in his fourth season of pro hockey, as he spent his first three years with the Winnipeg Jets organization. With the Manitoba Moose, the Toronto native scored 11 goals and registered 17 assists in the 2016-17 season.

#39 Ryan Haggerty

Ryan Haggerty leads Penguins players in points, with 16 goals and 13 assists for 28 points in 29 games. The right wing played in 58 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, amassing 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points. Haggerty spent the 2015-16 season with the Rockford Ice Hogs and the 2014-15 season with the Wolf Pack, where he scored 15 goals and added 18 assists for 33 points in 76 games.
