Wolf Pack Weekly, April 18-24

Apr 18, 2016

The Wolf Pack ended their season this past week with their only Canadian road trip of the year.  The three-game journey started Wednesday in Toronto, where the Wolf Pack knocked off the league-leading Marlies, 3-2, in a school-day morning game.  After that the Pack headed to Newfoundland for a pair of games vs. the St. John’s IceCaps.  The Wolf Pack won the first one, 4-1, on Friday night, with the line of Jayson Megna (1-2-3), Adam Tambellini (0-3-3) and Chad Nehring (1-1-2) combining for eight points.  Despite the victory, however, the Wolf Pack were eliminated from playoff contention later that night, when Bridgeport clinched the last Eastern Conference playoff spot with a 3-2 win at Portland.  In the season finale Saturday in St. John’s, the Wolf Pack put 36 shots on the IceCap net, but could get only one past St. John’s goaltender Eddie Pasquale, and the IceCaps prevailed by a score of 2-1.  That was only the Wolf Pack’s fifth regulation loss in the last 18 regular-season games (12-5-1-0), and after January 8, when they stood 14-19-2-0, the Pack finished the season 27-13-1-0 in their last 41 games.
