Rangers Ink Hrivik to New Contract

New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Marek Hrivik on a new contract.

Hrivik, 24, skated in 68 games with the Wolf Pack this past season, registering 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points, along with a plus-three rating and 18 penalty minutes. He established AHL career-highs in assists and points in 2015-16. Hrivik tied for the team lead in assists, ranked third in points, and tied for sixth in goals this past season. Hrivik tallied a point in 22 of his final 36 AHL games in 2015-16, recording 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) in those contests.

The 6-2, 205-pounder skated in five games with the Rangers this past season, registering one assist and a plus-three rating. Hrivik made his NHL debut on February 21, 2016 vs. Detroit, and he tallied his first career NHL assist/point while skating in his second career NHL game on February 23, 2016 at New Jersey. He posted a plus/minus rating of even or better in each of his five NHL games this past season, including a plus-one rating in three of those contests.

Hrivik has skated in 262 career AHL games over parts of five seasons (2011-12 – 2015-16), all with the Whale/Wolf Pack, registering 45 goals and 83 assists for 128 points, along with a plus-12 rating and 62 penalty minutes. He has averaged 0.53 points per game over his last two seasons in the AHL (74 points in 140 games). Hrivik has also skated in 24 career AHL playoff games, registering eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points, along with 16 penalty minutes. He tallied nine points (three goals, six assists) in 15 contests during the 2015 Playoffs while helping Hartford advance to the Eastern Conference Final.

The Zilina, Slovakia, native was signed by the Rangers as an undrafted free agent on May 30, 2012.
