Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed goaltender Charles Williams to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Williams, a rookie out of Canisius College (AHA), comes to the Wolf Pack from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL, for whom he is 19-9-4 in 43 appearances this season, with a 2.56 goals-against average, a 91.8% save percentage and one shutout.  The 5-11, 179-pound Williams’ 19 wins are good for a tie for fifth in the ECHL.

This is Williams’ second appearance on the Wolf Pack roster.  On a previous PTO, he dressed as the Wolf Pack’s backup goaltender November 15 vs. Bridgeport.

Last season, Williams was named AHA Goaltender of the Year, and Player of the Year, after going 21-7-5, with a 1.82 GAA, a 94.3% save percentage and six shutouts, in 34 games with Canisius.  Following the completion of his college season, he played in three ECHL games with the Monarchs, and was 3-0-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a 91.9% save percentage.

Prior to his year at Canisius, the 25-year-old Williams played three seasons at Ferris State University.  His record during that time was 5-8-1, with a 3.01 GAA, an 88.8% save percentage and one shutout, in 20 appearances.

The Wolf Pack return to action tomorrow night, Friday, March 2, traveling to Springfield to take on the Thunderbirds.  Faceoff is 7:05 PM, and all of the action can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at www.newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio.  Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.

The Wolf Pack’s next home game is this Saturday, March 3, vs. the Providence Bruins.  Faceoff is 3:00, and that is the Wolf Pack’s “Military Appreciation Day”, as the first 2,000 fans receive Wolf Pack “Dog Tags”, presented by Go Graphix, and the Wolf Pack wear special military-themed jerseys.  Those jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefitting military-related charities.
