Justin Vaive Signs AHL Deal with Pack

Sep 3, 2014

Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed forward Justin Vaive to an AHL contract.

Vaive, a fourth-year pro out of Miami University (Ohio), skated in 27 games with the Wolf Pack in 2013-14, after signing a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement January 11.  In those 27 contests, the 6-4, 210-pound Buffalo, NY native scored one goal and added four assists for five points, and served 31 minutes in penalties.  In 13 games with the Wolf Pack’s ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors, Vaive struck for ten goals and eight assists for 18 points, while logging 20 PIM.  In the ECHL postseason, he tied for second on the Road Warrior team in goals, with six, and chipped in five assists for 11 points, in 13 contests.

Vaive split his first two pro seasons between the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, and has suited up for 83 total AHL games.  He has amassed 3-6-9 with 79 PIM in those 83 outings, and has career totals of 18-22-40, with 95 PIM, in 59 ECHL games.

Prior to turning pro, Vaive played four seasons of CCHA action at Miami, registering career totals of 23 goals and 23 assists for 46 points, with 208 PIM, in 160 games.  He was a fourth-round (92nd overall) selection by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2007 NHL draft, from the U.S. National Development Program’s Under-18 squad, and is the son of former long-time NHLer Rick Vaive.

The Wolf Pack will open the home portion of their 2014-15 AHL season Saturday, October 18 at the XL Center, hosting the Portland Pirates at 7:00 PM.  To speak with a Wolf Pack representative about season or group tickets, or any of the Wolf Pack’s many ticketing options, call (855) 762-6451.
