WOLF PACK UNLEASHED: DYLAN ROOBROECK
May 29, 2025HARTFORD, CT – Rookie forward Dylan Roobroeck joined some solid company on April 18. That night, the 6’7” forward snapped his 20th goal of the season by goaltender Tristan Lennox 12:21 into the second period.
It would stand as the game-winning goal and would put Roobroeck all alone in the lead for the club’s goal scoring crown.
Roobroeck joined Will Cuylle and Brett Berard as rookies who have led the Wolf Pack in goals over the last three seasons. Cuylle scored 25 goals during the 2022-23 campaign, while Berard notched 25 goals in 2023-24.
“It’s a huge milestone for me personally,” Roobroeck said when asked about hitting the 20-goal mark and leading the club as a rookie in that category. “Honestly, though, it’s not something I could have done without the guys in the room. I give a lot of credit to those guys in there for helping me achieve that as a rookie.”
Roobroeck, like many rookies in the AHL, spent a majority of the first half of the season adjusting to life both on and off the ice as a professional athlete. It was in the season’s second half where the native of London, ON, took off.
“Obviously the first half of the season, the first games you play, you’re learning this league,” he said when asked about his second half surge. “I was learning a lot coming from juniors and into a new league. I just wanted to come back in the second half, knowing what I learned, and just kind of build off that. I wanted to build off my first half, finish strong, and help the team win.”
He certainly did that. Roobroeck collected 14 goals during the 2025 portion of the season. He picked up his first three career multi-goal games and recorded three game-winning tallies for the club in that span as well. He ended the season with five goals in his final seven games, helping the Wolf Pack in their hunt for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
Building on his game was just one part of his rookie season. The sixth round pick, 178th overall, by the New York Rangers in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft also learned a lot about being a pro in his first season in Hartford.
“I really did learn a lot,” Roobroeck remarked. “Obviously, coming in here as a rookie, I was just trying to follow the lead of the veterans and take as much in as I could and improve my game as much as a I could.”
Among the veterans who helped Roobroeck along was forward Anton Blidh. The Swedish forward, who scored a career-high 19 goals, was often on Roobroeck’s wing in the second half as the rookie’s offensive game took off.
“He likes to talk, all the vets like to talk,” Roobroeck said when asked about his chemistry with Blidh. “They talk a lot, and that helped me a lot both on and off the ice. It really helped me learn the American League and how to be successful here. If I needed anything, I could go to those guys and they were always there to lend a helping hand. It certainly helped me a lot as a rookie adjust to pro hockey.”
For Roobroeck, the goal is no longer to make an impression as a pro. He’s already done that. Now, it’s about continuing to improve and develop his game. It’s about taking the next steps as he prepares for his second season in the organization.
“I’m looking to improve on everything this summer, to be honest,” he said. “I want to come back having made sure that I had a good summer and that I have a good start in training camp and carry that through the year.
“Coming into my second season, I want to put myself in the best possible position to compete to make the team out of camp. I want to have a good start and put myself and my teammates in a position to succeed.”
