Rangers Agree To Terms With Forward Justin Soryal


New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Justin Soryal.

Soryal, 20, has skated in 56 games with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season, registering 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points, along with 140 penalty minutes. He currently ranks sixth on the team in goals (15), fifth in assists (22), tied for fifth in points (37), and ranks second in penalty minutes (140). The Newmarket, Ontario native recorded a career-high, seven-game scoring streak from January 18 at Mississauga to February 2 at Barrie, registering five goals and five assists for 10 points over the span. He also collected a season-high, three assists on October 11 vs. Erie.

The 6-2, 210-pound forward has skated in 198 career OHL games with the Peterborough Petes, recording 44 goals and 53 assists for 97 points, along with 455 penalty minutes. Last season, Soryal established career-highs in games played (60), goals (26), assists (27), and points (53). His 26 goals led all Peterborough players, while his 53 points ranked fourth on the team. In addition, he has appeared in 31 playoff games with Peterborough, registering two assists and 37 penalty minutes.
