Wolf Pack Weekly, November 17-23

The Wolf Pack (8-5-2-0, 18 pts.) went 0-2-1-0 in their three games this past week, and enter this week tied with Albany for fourth place in the Northeast Division.  On Friday night, in the front end of a home-and-home series with Bridgeport, the Wolf Pack suffered a 6-1 loss to the Sound Tigers at the XL Center, with Ryan Haggerty scoring the only Wolf Pack goal.  In the second game of the home-and-home Saturday in Bridgeport, the Sound Tigers prevailed by a 5-2 score.  Chris McCarthy tallied his first AHL goal of the season for the Wolf Pack in that one, and Danny Kristo also scored.  Then on Sunday in Hartford, the Manchester Monarchs pulled out a 4-3 overtime win over the Pack, despite 36 saves by Mackenzie Skapski and a goal and an assist each by J.T. Miller and Ryan Bourque.

This week:
The Wolf Pack return to action on Wednesday night at the XL Center, hosting the Syracuse Crunch at 7:00 PM.  Then the Pack get their first look at the Providence Bruins on Friday night, in a 7:05 contest at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Providence.  Saturday finds the Wolf Pack back at home, for another tussle with their Connecticut rivals the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  That game faces off at 7:30.

Wednesday, November 19 vs. the Syracuse Crunch at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

  • This is the Wolf Pack’s first Wednesday-night home game of the season, and it’s a “Winning Wednesday”.  If the Wolf Pack win this game, each fan receives a free ticket to the Pack’s next home game, which is this Saturday, November 22 vs. Bridgeport (some restrictions apply).
  • This is also another opportunity for fans to take advantage of the Wolf Pack’s “Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack”.  The Family Value Pack features two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for only $35.
  • This is the second of eight meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and Syracuse, and the Crunch’s first of four trips to the XL Center.  The teams first clashed in the Wolf Pack’s first game of the season October 12, with the Wolf Pack scoring a 4-3 overtime win.
  • The Crunch enter the week one point ahead of the Wolf Pack in the Northeast Division with a record of 8-4-3 for 19 points, tied with Springfield for second place in the division.  Syracuse has won three straight and is 5-0-2-0 in its last seven games, after a 3-4-1-0 start.
  • Former Connecticut Whale Jonathan Marchessault is riding a seven-game point-scoring streak (4-4-8) for the Crunch, and leads the team in points with 6-9-15 in 14 games.

Friday, November 21 at the Providence Bruins (Dunkin’ Donuts Center Providence), 7:05 PM

  • This is the opener of a four-game season series between the Wolf Pack and Bruins, and the first of two Wolf Pack visits to Providence.  The Pack were 1-3-1-1 vs. the P-Bruins last year, 0-1-1-1 in three road games.
  • Providence (8-6-1-0, 17 pts.) is tied with Worcester for second place in the Atlantic Division.  The Bruins have dropped four of their last six outings, after going 6-2-1-0 in their first nine.
  • Bruin scoring leader David Pastrnak leads all AHL rookies in points and assists, with 4-12-16 in 15 games.

Saturday, November 22 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the XL Center, 7:30 PM

  • The first 3,000 fans into this game will receive a Wolf Pack winter hat, courtesy of CT-DOT.
  • This is the third matchup of the season between the Wolf Pack and Sound Tigers, all in a span of nine days, and the Pack will be looking for their first win of the season series.  The Sound Tigers swept a home-and-home between the two clubs this past weekend, winning 6-1 in Hartford on Friday and 5-2 at home on Saturday.
  • Bridgeport had a five-game winning streak snapped in their last game, a 5-3 home loss to Springfield on Sunday.
  • Bridgeport forward, and Wethersfield, CT native, Colin McDonald had five points (3-2-5) in the two games against the Wolf Pack last weekend, including a two-goal, two-assist performance on Friday, and rookie defenseman Ryan Pulock banged in three goals in the two contests.

The Wolf Pack’s “Kindness Campaign” is now underway, and fans can sign the Wolf Pack’s kindness pledge on-line, through the Wolf Pack’s official website at www.hartfordwolfpack.com, through December 15.  Also, fans can take the kindness pledge by tweeting the hashtag #WolfPackKindness.  The twitter handle of every individual who takes the pledge that way will appear on a Wolf Pack specialty jersey, which the team will wear for the Pack’s “Anti-bullying Night” Friday, March 27.

Once again this season, every Friday night Wolf Pack home game will feature $1 hot dogs and $2 beers, through the start of the second period.  The next Friday-night home game is coming up November 28, when the Wolf Pack host the Norfolk Admirals in a 7:00 PM game.

Wolf Pack “Winning Wednesdays” are back for the 2014-15 season.  At all Wednesday night home games, if the Wolf Pack win, each fan receives a free ticket to the Pack’s next home game (some restrictions apply).  The next Wednesday Wolf Pack home date after this Wednesday is January 21, when the Providence Bruins invade the XL Center for a 7:00 PM game.
