Wolf Pack Make Roster Moves

Nov 9, 2015

Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned goaltender Mackenzie Skapski to the Wolf Pack from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and that the Wolf Pack has loaned netminder Jeff Malcolm to Greenville.

Skapski, 21, a second-year pro out of the Western Hockey League and sixth-round (170th overall) Ranger selection in the 2013 NHL Draft, had been assigned to the Swamp Rabbits last Monday, after missing the Wolf Pack’s first ten games due to injury.  In two games with Greenville, Skapski was 0-2-0 with nine goals-against on 61 shots (4.58 goals-against average, 85.2% save percentage).

Last year as a rookie, the 6-3, 192-pound Skapski played two games for the Rangers and won them both, allowing a total of only one goal on 45 shots.  That included his first career NHL shutout, a 2-0 Ranger win in Buffalo March 14 in which Skapski made 20 saves.  In 28 games with the Wolf Pack in 2014-15, the Abbotsford, B.C. native was 15-8-3 with a 2.40 GAA, a 91.4% save percentage and three shutouts.

Malcolm, a third-year pro out of Yale University, has made three appearances for the Wolf Pack this season, playing a total of just over 151 minutes.  He is 1-1-0 and has allowed six goals on 64 shots, for a 2.38 GAA and a 90.6% save percentage.

The Wolf Pack’s next action is a two-game trip to Portland, Maine to battle the Pirates.  The first of those two games is this Wednesday, November 11, with faceoff at 7:00.  All of the action of that contest can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at www.newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio.  Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.

The Wolf Pack’s next home game is this Sunday, November 15, a 4:00 contest against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.  All Wolf Pack Sunday home games feature the “Click It or Ticket” Family Value Pack.  That includes two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for only $35.  Also, fans are encouraged to bring their skates to Sunday’s game, as there will be a free postgame skate on the XL Center ice.
