Hellberg Returns to Pack, Skapski to GreenvilleJan 26, 2017
Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have returned goaltender Magnus Hellberg to the Wolf Pack, and that the Rangers have reassigned netminder Mackenzie Skapski from the Wolf Pack to its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Hellberg appeared in one game with the Rangers following his recall on January 16. He stopped all four shots he faced while making his 2016-17 season debut with the Rangers on January 17 vs. Dallas. The 6-6, 209-pounder has appeared in 25 games with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 10-9-4 record, along with a 2.91 goals-against average and a 90.5% save percentage.
Skapski, who had joined the Wolf Pack January 17, is 1-6-0 in eight AHL appearances this season, with a 4.66 GAA and an 85.2% save percentage. In 17 ECHL games with the Swamp Rabbits, the third-year pro out of the Western Hockey League is 8-7-0, with a 3.06 GAA, a 90.2% save percentage and one shutout.
The Wolf Pack’s next game is tomorrow night, Friday, January 27, when they travel to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers. Faceoff is 7:00 PM, and all of the action can be heard live on News Radio 1410 WPOP, and on-line at www.newsradio1410.com and iHeartRadio. Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.
The next Wolf Pack home game is this Saturday, January 28, a 7:00 game vs. the Providence Bruins. The first 2,000 fans will receive a 2016-17 Wolf Pack team trading card set, and it’s also “Stick it to Cancer” night, sponsored by Jefferson Radiology.
