Forward Luke Adam Signs with Rangers

New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced today that the team has agreed to terms with free agent forward Luke Adam.
Adam, 25, skated in 73 games with the Rochester Americans and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) this past season, registering 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points, along with 62 penalty minutes. He posted a four-game point streak from October 25 at Adirondack to November 1 at Toronto, and he posted three consecutive multi-point games from November 8 vs. Utica to November 14 vs. Toronto. Adam tallied a goal while making his debut with Springfield on December 19 at Binghamton, and he registered a season-high five-game point streak from December 28 vs. Syracuse to January 9 at Providence.
In addition, Adam skated in three NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2014-15, recording four penalty minutes. He made his debut with Columbus on March 10 at Carolina.
The 6-2, 206-pounder has skated in 90 career NHL games over parts of five seasons with Buffalo and Columbus, registering 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points, along with 36 penalty minutes. Adam established NHL career-highs in games played (52), goals (10), assists (10), and points (20) with Buffalo during the 2011-12 season. He made his NHL debut with the Sabres on October 26, 2010 at Philadelphia, and he recorded his first career NHL assist/point on November 26, 2010 vs. Toronto.
Adam has skated in 283 career AHL games, registering 93 goals and 110 assists for 203 points, along with 231 penalty minutes. In 2013-14, Adam participated in the AHL All-Star Game. He led Rochester in goals (29), ranked second in points (49), and tied for fifth in assists (20), and ranked second in the AHL in power play goals (16) in 2013-14. Adam received the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as AHL Rookie of the Year in 2010-11, as he established AHL career-highs in goals (29), assists (33), points (62), and plus/minus rating (plus-18). He tied for first among all AHL rookies in points in 2010-11, and represented the Eastern Conference at the 2011 AHL All-Star Game. In 26 career AHL playoff games, Adam has registered six goals and eight assists for 14 points, along with 24 penalty minutes.
Internationally, the St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador native represented Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. Adam registered eight points (four goals, four assists) and posted a plus-nine rating in six games during the tournament while helping Canada capture a silver medal.
Adam was originally selected by Buffalo in the second round, 44th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
